Attic Insulation & Attic Cleanup in Santa Monica

Most Santa Monica attics we open need the same three things: the old, dirty insulation out, the gaps that let rats and dust in sealed, and new insulation to R-30 or R-38. A typical North of Montana, Ocean Park or Sunset Park attic takes our crew one or two days.

Homes in Santa Monica

What we find in Santa Monica attics.

  • Lots of 1920s–1950s Spanish, Craftsman and postwar homes with low, tight attics and original or 1980s-era insulation that has settled to a few inches.
  • Raised foundations with crawlspaces in Ocean Park, Sunset Park and the Pico neighborhood. Close to the ocean they stay damp, which is where a vapor barrier helps.
  • Roof rats love palms and alley power lines. Rat droppings in the attic insulation are the most common thing we find here.
  • Duplexes and condos with shared walls, where dense-pack insulation quiets the neighbors.

Rebates by zip code

Zip codes: 90401, 90402, 90403, 90404, 90405

  • 90402 and 90403 (north of Montana and Wilshire–Montana) are on SoCalGas's 2025 wildfire zip list. With a gas furnace, attic insulation can earn $1.45–$3.00 per sq ft. How it works
  • 90401, 90404 and 90405 have no attic insulation rebate in 2026. Electricity here is Southern California Edison, not LADWP, so the LADWP rebate doesn't apply. We'll tell you straight and quote the job on its own merits.

Common questions

Straight answers.

Is there an insulation rebate in Santa Monica?

Only in zip codes 90402 and 90403, through SoCalGas's 2025 wildfire rebate, and only for homes with a gas furnace. It pays $1.45 to $3.00 per sq ft of attic insulation depending on how much R-value is added. The rest of Santa Monica has no attic insulation rebate in 2026.

Why don't LADWP rebates work in Santa Monica?

Santa Monica gets its electricity from Southern California Edison, not LADWP. LADWP rebates are for City of Los Angeles homes such as Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Mar Vista and Venice.

Do you remove old insulation with rodent droppings?

Yes. We vacuum it out with an industrial vacuum straight to bags outside, sanitize the attic, seal the gaps rodents use, and only then install new insulation.

How long does a Santa Monica attic job take?

Most take one or two days. If rats are still active we seal the attic first, check back over about 12 to 15 days, and insulate once it's secure.

Are you actually local?

Yes. We're based in Santa Monica, our crews are our own employees, and we don't subcontract.
