LADWP rebate · 2026

LADWP attic rebate: we pull the permit so it actually pays.

If LADWP is your electric utility (City of Los Angeles homes like Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Venice, Mar Vista and Westwood), LADWP pays up to $0.75 per sq ft for attic batt insulation above R-19, in homes with air conditioning, once the LADBS permit is finaled. We pull the permit and file the rebate for you.

What it pays

$0.75per sq ft for batts above R-19 ($0.50 + $0.25 bonus)
$0.55per sq ft at R-19 or below
80%maximum share of the job cost

Example: a 1,200 sq ft attic in Mar Vista with R-30 batts earns about 1,200 × $0.75 = $900.

The rules

  • Existing City of LA homes with LADWP electric service.
  • The home has air conditioning.
  • Batts or rolls only, not blown-in.
  • A finaled LADBS permit.
  • Mailed within 12 months of the work.
  • Not combined with another utility rebate on the same attic.

Other LADWP rebates worth knowing

Whole house fans ($200; solar attic fans don't count), cool roofs ($0.20–$0.60/sq ft) and heat pump HVAC. All-electric fire rebuilds may qualify for LADWP's HOME LA program, which must be approved before construction.

Common questions

Straight answers.

Is my home in LADWP territory?

If you're in the City of Los Angeles, usually yes: Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Venice, Mar Vista, Westwood, West LA and Bel Air. Santa Monica, Culver City and Beverly Hills are served by Southern California Edison, so the LADWP rebate doesn't apply there.

Why does the permit matter?

LADWP pays only with a finaled LADBS permit. Many insulation jobs are done without one, and those homeowners never see the rebate. We pull the permit as part of the job.

Does blown-in insulation qualify?

No. The LADWP attic rebate is for batt or roll insulation. If blown-in is the better fit for your attic, we'll tell you and you can decide whether the rebate is worth switching for.

Can I also get the SoCalGas rebate?

Not on the same attic. In wildfire zip codes like 90049 and 90272, the SoCalGas rebate often pays more, so we compare both.

  2. Sanitize the bare attic
  3. Seal every way in, and air seal the attic floor
  4. Monitor with cameras until the attic stays clear
  5. Insulate to R-30 or R-38
  6. Solar attic fan where the attic runs hot
  7. Rebate math in writing, and we file the paperwork
